The village of Broadmayne lies approximately 4 miles south east to the county town of Dorchester and offers its residents an array of amenities including a village store and post office, playing fields and park, tennis courts which can be hired and an active village hall.

Broadmayne was well known for its quality brick making for over 100 years. It is also mentioned that in this village, the notorious highwayman, Bill Watch, stabled his horse when he was raiding the coaches on the Weymouth to London run.
